V-ru (không ý chí/khả năng) / V-nai + ように

💡 Usage

Expresses the purpose of an action. Unlike 'Tameni' (used with intentional verbs), 'You ni' is used with potential form verbs or intransitive verbs (lacking human intention).

📚 Examples

速く泳げるように, 毎日練習しています。

Hayaku oyogeru you ni, mainichi renshuu shite imasu.

I practice every day so that I can swim fast.

忘れないように, メモしておきます。

Wasurenai you ni, memo shite okimasu.

I'll make a note so that I don't forget.
