Used to refer to something by a popular name or definition (often "what we call...").

彼は、いわゆる「オタク」だ。
Kare wa, iwayuru "otaku" da.
He is what is called an "Otaku".
これがいわゆる「神対応」というやつか。
Kore ga iwayuru "kamitaiou" to iu yatsu ka.
Is this what they call "god-tier service"?
彼女はいわゆる才色兼備の女性だ。
Kanojo wa iwayuru saishokukenbi no josei da.
She is a so-called woman of both beauty and intelligence.
