かえって + 文💡Usage
Used when a result is the opposite of what was expected, often focusing on a negative or ironic outcome.
📚Examples
親切がお節介だと思われて、かえって迷惑がられた。
Shinsetsu ga osekkai da to omowarete, kaette meiwakugarareta.
My kindness was taken as meddling, and instead, it was considered annoying.
薬を飲んだらかえって具合が悪くなった。
Kusuri wo nondara kaette guai ga waruku natta.
I took medicine, but on the contrary, I felt worse.
説明を聞いたら、かえって分からなくなった。
Setsumei wo kiitara, kaette wakaranaku natta.
After hearing the explanation, I became even more confused.
近道しようとしたら、かえって時間がかかった。
