V/A/N (modifier) + ものの💡Usage
Expresses contrast: Although A is true, B (which is contrary to expectation) is also true.
📚Examples
申し込みはしたものの、試験を受けるか迷っている。
Moushikomi wa shita mono no, shiken wo ukeru ka mayotte iru.
Although I applied, I am hesitating whether to take the exam.
言葉では謝ったものの、心の中では納得していない。
Kotoba dewa ayamatta mono no, kokoro no naka dewa nattoku shite inai.
Although I apologized with words, I am not convinced in my heart.
春とはいうものの、まだ寒い日が続いている。
Haru to wa iu mono no, mada samui hi ga tsuzuite iru.
Although it is called spring, cold days still continue.
