149. せいか : Perhaps because... / Attributed to....

N-no / V / A + せいか💡Usage
Used when guessing a cause but not completely sure. Can be positive, negative or neutral (unlike "sei de" which is negative and definite).
📚Examples
年のせいか、最近疲れやすい。
Toshi no sei ka, saikin tsukareyasui.
Perhaps because of my age, I get tired easily lately.
暑さのせいか、食欲がない。
Atsusa no sei ka, shokuyoku ga nai.
Perhaps because of the heat, I have no appetite.
気のせいか、誰かに見られているような気がする。
Ki no sei ka, dareka ni mirarete iru you na ki ga suru.
Maybe it's just my imagination, but I feel like someone is watching me.
薬を飲んだせいか、眠くなった。
Kusuri wo nonda sei ka, nemuku natta.
Perhaps because I took medicine, I became sleepy.
彼女は緊張しているせいか、口数が少ない。
Kanojo wa kinchou shite iru sei ka, kuchikazu ga sukunai.
Perhaps because she is nervous, she is quiet.
昨夜よく寝たせいか、今日は気分がいい。
Sakuya yoku neta sei ka, kyou wa kibun ga ii.
Perhaps because I slept well last night, I feel good today.
練習不足のせいか、うまくいかなかった。
Renshuubusoku no sei ka, umaku ikanakatta.
Perhaps because of lack of practice, it didn't go well.
値段が高いせいか、店は空いている。
Nedan ga takai sei ka, mise wa aite iru.
Perhaps because the prices are high, the shop is empty.
雨のせいか、道が混んでいる。
Ame no sei ka, michi ga konde iru.
Perhaps because of the rain, the roads are crowded.
彼がいるせいか、場の雰囲気が明るい。
Kare ga iru sei ka, ba no fun'iki ga akarui.
Perhaps because he is here, the atmosphere is bright.
