Expresses a minimum wish or requirement, "at least this much". Often used with desires or requests.

せめて声だけでも聞きたい。
Semete koe dake demo kikitai.
I want to hear your voice, at least.
せめて一言謝ってほしかった。
Semete hitokoto ayamatte hoshikatta.
I wanted him to apologize, just one word at least.
せめて日曜日くらいはゆっくり休みたい。
