💡Usage

Expresses regret when effort is wasted, or appreciation for a rare opportunity. Often used with "noni" or "dakara".

📚Examples

せっかく来たのに、店は閉まっていた。

Sekkaku kita noni, mise wa shimatte ita.

I came all this way, but the shop was closed.

せっかくの休日なのに、雨でどこへも行けない。

Sekkaku no kyuujitsu na noni, ame de doko e mo ikenai.

It's a rare holiday, but I can't go anywhere because of the rain.

せっかく作った料理が冷めてしまった。

Sekkaku tsukutta ryouri ga samete shimatta.

The food I took the trouble to make has gone cold.

せっかくのチャンスだから、挑戦してみよう。

Sekkaku no chansu dakara, chousen shite miyou.

It's a rare chance, so let's give it a try.
