Used to explain an obvious result based on a reason, or to summarize a situation.

暑いはずだ。もう35度もあるわけだ。
Atsui hazu da. Mou sanjuugodo mo aru wake da.
No wonder it's hot. It's already 35 degrees.
彼は日本人の父と英語の母を持っている。つまり、ハーフというわけだ。
Kare wa nihonjin no chichi to eigo no haha wo motte iru. Tsumari, haafu to iu wake da.
He has a Japanese father and an English mother. In other words, he's half-Japanese.
暗いわけだ。電気が消えている。
Kurai wake da. Denki ga kiete iru.
No wonder it's dark. The lights are off.
5パーセント値引きするということは、1000円のものが950円になるわけだ。
Gopaasento nebiki suru to iu koto wa, sen-en no mono ga kyuuhyakugojuuen ni naru wake da.
A 5% discount means a 1000 yen item will be 950 yen.

Yoru osoku made okite iru kara, asa nemui wake da.
