Verb stem + 上げる💡Usage
Used to express the complete accomplishment of a task. Often carries the nuance of finishing something difficult or requiring much effort.
📚Examples
何日も徹夜して、やっとレポートを書き上げた。
Nannichi mo tetsuya shite, yatto repooto wo kakiageta.
After staying up all night for many days, I finally finished writing the report.
母は苦労しながら、一人で5人の子供を立派に育て上げた。
Haha wa kurou shinagara, hitori de gonin no kodomo wo rippa ni sodateageta.
Despite the hardships, my mother raised 5 children to be fine adults all by herself.
オーブンからいい匂いがして、パンが焼き上がりました。
Oobun kara ii nioi ga shite, pan ga yakiagarimashita.
A good smell is coming from the oven, and the bread is freshly baked.
この壮大な作品は彼が死ぬ直前まで描き上げたものだ。
