48. ことは～が : Although... / It is true that... but.
✏️Structure
Verb (dict) + ことは + Verb (dict) + が💡Usage
Acknowledges a fact but with conditions or limitations. "It is true that... but...".
📚Examples
パーティーに行くことは行くが、少し遅れるかもしれない。
Paatii ni iku koto wa iku ga, sukoshi okureru kamoshirenai.
I will go to the party, but I might be a little late.
彼の作った料理を食べることは食べたが、正直あまり美味しくなかった。
Kare no tsukutta ryouri wo taberu koto wa tabeta ga, shoujiki amari oishikunakatta.
I did eat the dish he made, but honestly it was not very delicious.
この仕事はできることはできるが、かなり時間がかかると思います。
Kono shigoto wa dekiru koto wa dekiru ga, kanari jikan ga kakaru to omoimasu.
This work can be done, but I think it will take quite a lot of time.
その映画のことを知っていることは知っているが、内容は詳しくありません。
Sono eiga no koto wo shitte iru koto wa shitte iru ga, naiyou wa kuwashiku arimasen.
I do know about that movie, but I am not familiar with the details of the content.
先週その本を読むことは読んだが、難しくて内容をほとんど忘れてしまった。
Senshuu sono hon wo yomu koto wa yonda ga, muzukashikute naiyou wo hotondo wasurete shimatta.
I did read that book last week, but it was difficult and I forgot most of the content.
駅で彼女に会ったことは会ったが、急いでいたので話はできなかった。
Eki de kanojo ni atta koto wa atta ga, isoide ita node hanashi wa dekinakatta.
I did meet her at the station, but I was in a hurry so I could not talk.
その問題の答えが分かることは分かるが、うまく説明することができない。
Sono mondai no kotae ga wakaru koto wa wakaru ga, umaku setsumei suru koto ga dekinai.
I do understand the answer to that problem, but I cannot explain it well.
彼の噂を聞くことは聞いたが、本当かどうか信じられない。
Kare no uwasa wo kiku koto wa kiita ga, hontou ka dou ka shinjirarenai.
I did hear the rumors about him, but I cannot believe whether they are true or not.
テレビでそのニュースを見ることは見たが、詳しい内容はよく覚えていない。
Terebi de sono nyuusu wo miru koto wa mita ga, kuwashii naiyou wa yoku oboete inai.
I did see that news on TV, but I do not remember the details well.
新しいパソコンを買うことは買ったが、忙しくてまだ一度も使っていない。
Atarashii pasokon wo kau koto wa katta ga, isogashikute mada ichido mo tsukatte inai.
I did buy a new computer, but I have been so busy that I have not used it even once yet.
