💡 Usage
Used to indicate the reason or cause leading to the result. The second half often contains words expressing feeling/emotions (surprise, worry...) or unintentional states.
📚 Examples
ニュースを聞いて、びっくりしました。
Nyuusu o kiite, bikkuri shimashita.
I was surprised to hear the news.
家族に会えなくて、寂しいです。
Kazoku ni aenakute, sabishii desu.
I feel lonely because I can't meet my family.
言葉がわからなくて、困りました。
Kotoba ga wakaranakute, komarimashita.
I had trouble because I didn't understand the language.
手紙を読んで、安心しました。
Tegami o yonde, anshin shimashita.
I felt relieved after reading the letter.
時計が壊れていて、遅刻しました。
Tokei ga kowarete ite, chikoku shimashita.
I was late because my watch was broken.
