Used to list two examples of the same category to emphasize that the same result or conditions apply in either case.

日本人であれ外国人であれ、法律は守らなければならない。
Nihonjin de are gaikokujin de are, houritsu wa mamoranahereba naranai.
Whether you are Japanese or a foreigner, you must obey the law.
大人であれ子供であれ、命の大切さは変わらない。
