V-nai + ずじまい💡Usage
Used to express regret when something ends or an opportunity passes without one being able to perform the intended action.
📚Examples
留学中に一度も旅行に行けずじまいで帰国した。
Ryuugakuchuu ni ichido mo ryokou ni ikezujimai de kikoku shita.
I returned home without ever going on a trip during my studies abroad.
彼女に本当の気持ちを言えずじまいで、彼女は引っ越してしまった。
Kanojo ni hontou no kimochi wo iezujimai de, kanojo wa hikkoshite shimatta.
I ended up not telling her my true feelings before she moved away.
あの本は買ってから、結局読まずじまいで棚に並んでいる。
Ano hon wa katte kara, kekkyoku yomazujimai de tana ni narande iru.
After buying that book, I ended up never reading it, and it just sits on the shelf.
借りたCDを返さずじまいで、彼と連絡が取れなくなった。
