Expresses a negative outcome after a long, often difficult process or state.
📚Examples
悩んだあげく、会社を辞めることにした。
Nayanda ageku, kaisha wo yameru koto ni shita.
After much worrying, I decided to quit the company.
待たされたあげく、店は閉まっていた。
Matasareta ageku, mise wa shimatte ita.
After being made to wait for a long time, the shop was closed.
口論のあげく、二人は絶交した。
Kouron no ageku, futari wa zekkou shita.
After an argument, the two of them cut off ties.
彼は借金を重ねたあげく、行方不明になった。
Kare wa shakkin wo kasaneta ageku, yukuefumei ni natta.
He piled up debts and finally went missing.
いろいろ文句を言ったあげく、買わずに帰った。
