14. だけに : Being the case / Precisely because / All the more because.

N + だけに / V-plain + だけに💡Usage
Used to emphasize that because of a certain reason, a result is even more pronounced or natural.
📚Examples
期待していただけに、不合格だと知ってがっかりした。
Kitai shite ita dake ni, fugoukaku da to shitte gakkari shita.
Precisely because I had high expectations, I was all the more disappointed to learn I failed.
彼は若いだけに、立ち直りも早い。
Kare wa wakai dake ni, tachinaori mo hayai.
Being young, he recovers quickly.
苦労しただけに、成功した時の喜びは大きかった。
Kurou shite ita dake ni, seikou shita toki no yorokobi wa ookikatta.
Precisely because of the hardships, the joy of success was even greater.
この本は高いだけに、内容が充実している。
Kono hon wa takai dake ni, naiyou ga juujitsu shite iru.
