Expresses contrast: despite being in a certain state, the reality is different.

残念ながら、今回は不採用となりました。
Zannen nagara, konkai wa fusaiyou to narimashita.
Regrettably, you were not hired this time.
彼は貧しいながらも、幸せに暮らしている。
Kare wa mazushii nagara mo, shiawase ni kurashite iru.
Even though he is poor, he lives happily.
狭いながらも、楽しい我が家。
Semai nagara mo, tanoshii wagaya.
It's small, but it's my happy home.
知りながら、教えてくれなかった。
Shiri nagara, oshiete kurenakatta.
Although he knew, he didn't tell me.
遠いながらも、通えない距離ではない。
