V-ta + とたんに💡Usage
Expresses that something happens unexpectedly immediately after another action has finished.
📚Examples
窓を開けたとたんに、強い風が入ってきた。
Mado wo aketa totan ni, tsuyoi kaze ga haitte kita.
As soon as I opened the window, a strong wind blew in.
お酒を飲んだとたんに、顔が赤くなった。
Osake wo nonda totan ni, kao ga akaku natta.
The moment I drank alcohol, my face turned red.
立ち上がったとたんに、めまいがした。
Tachiagatta totan ni, memai ga shita.
The moment I stood up, I felt dizzy.
