Used to express that a change (often negative) is continuing in one direction.

事態は悪化する一方だ。
Jitai wa akka suru ippou da.
The situation is getting worse and worse.
ガソリンの値段は上がる一方だ。
Gasorin no nedan wa agaru ippou da.
Gasoline prices just keep going up.
最近、仕事が忙しくなる一方だ。
Saikin, shigoto ga isogashiku naru ippou da.
