52. くせに : Even though / Despite / And yet.

Verb/Adj/Noun (plain form) + くせに💡Usage
Used to criticize or reproach someone. "Even though... but...", carries negative nuance.
📚Examples
知らないくせに偉そうに言う。
Shiranai kuseni erasou ni iu.
Không biết mà lại nói oai.
子供のくせに生意気だ。
Kodomo no kuseni namaiki da.
Con nít mà hỗn.
自分では全然できないくせに、人の仕事に対して文句ばかり言うのはやめてほしい。
Jibun de wa zenzen dekinai kuseni, hito no shigoto ni taishite monku bakari iu no wa yamete hoshii.
Even though you cannot do it at all yourself, I wish you would stop complaining about other people's work.
自分だってお金がないくせに、しょっちゅう高い物を買ってどうするんだ。
Jibun datte okane ga nai kuseni, shocchuu takai mono wo katte dou suru n da.
You yourself have no money, yet you keep buying expensive things — what are you thinking?
試験前なのに忙しいくせに、夜中まで友達と遊んでばかりいる。
Shiken mae na noni isogashii kuseni, yonaka made tomodachi to asonde bakari iru.
Even though busy before exams, you keep playing with friends until midnight.
自分から誘っておいて約束したくせに、当日になって急に来なかったので本当に困った。
Jibun kara sasotte oite yakusoku shita kuseni, toujitsu ni natte kyuu ni konakatta node hontou ni komatta.
Even though you were the one who invited me and made a promise, you suddenly did not come on the day and it was really troublesome.
普段は嫌いなくせに、今日は空腹だからか野菜を黙々と食べている。
Fudan wa kirai na kuseni, kyou wa kuufuku da kara ka yasai wo mokumoku to tabete iru.
Even though you normally hate it, maybe because you are hungry today, you are silently eating vegetables.
自分だって分からないくせに、知ったかぶりをして人に教えようとするのはよくない。
Jibun datte wakaranai kuseni, shittaka-buri wo shite hito ni oshieyou to suru no wa yokunai.
