Used to pray or wish for something. "I hope...", "May...".
📚Examples
来月の大学入試で絶対に合格できますように、毎日神社でお祈りしている。
Raigetsu no daigaku nyuushi de zettai ni goukaku dekimasu you ni, mainichi jinja de ooinori shite iru.
Hoping to definitely pass next month's university entrance exam, I pray at the shrine every day.
離れて暮らす両親がいつまでも元気でいますように、と毎朝心の中で願っている。
Hanarete kurasu ryoushin ga itsu made mo genki de imasu you ni, to mai asa kokoro no naka de negatte iru.
Every morning I silently wish in my heart that my parents living far away will always be healthy.
今年こそ大切な人と結ばれて、ずっと幸せになりますように。
Kotoshi koso taisetsu na hito to musubarete, zutto shiawase ni narimasu you ni.
