Used in questions to present choices. "Or...", "Or else...".

食事を注文するとき、店員に「お飲み物はコーヒーになさいますか、それとも紅茶になさいますか」と聞かれた。
Shokuji wo chuumon suru toki, tenin ni "Onomimono wa koohii ni nasaimasu ka, sore tomo koucha ni nasaimasu ka" to kikareta.
When ordering food, the clerk asked me, "Would you like coffee or tea for your drink?"
今度の週末の連休に、山へキャンプに行くか、それとも海へ泳ぎに行くか、みんなで集まって相談している。
