V-masu + つつ💡Usage
1. Two actions occurring simultaneously (formal, more written than "nagara"). 2. Contrast: although knowing something is wrong, one does it anyway.
📚Examples
将来の計画を考えつつ、毎日を過ごしている。
Shourai no keikaku wo kangaetsutsu, mainichi wo sugoshite iru.
I am spending my days while thinking about future plans.
体に悪いと知りつつ、タバコがやめられない。
Karada ni warui to shiritsutsu, tabako ga yamerarenai.
Although I know it's bad for my health, I can't quit smoking.
勉強しなきゃと思いつつ、また遊んでしまった。
Benkyou shinakya to omoitsutsu, mata asonde shimatta.
While thinking I should study, I ended up playing again.
音楽を聴きつつ、本を読む。
Ongaku wo kikitsutsu, hon wo yomu.
Read a book while listening to music.
先生のアドバイスを思い出しつつ、練習に励んだ。
Sensei no adobaisu wo omoidashitsutsu, renshuu ni hagenda.
I worked hard at practice while remembering the teacher's advice.

While feeling sorry, I turned down his request.
