155. ようとする : Try to / Be about to.

Verb (volitional form) + とする💡Usage
Expresses an attempt or imminent action. "Trying to...", "About to...".
📚Examples
お風呂に入ろうとしたところに、タイミング悪く友達から電話がかかってきた。
Ofuro ni hairou to shita tokoro ni, taimingu waruku tomodachi kara denwa ga kakatte kita.
Just as I was about to get into the bath, I got a phone call from a friend with bad timing.
電車のドアが閉まろうとしているのに、無理やりホームから駆け込んでくる人がいた。
Densha no doa ga shimarou to shite iru noni, muriyari hoomu kara kakekonde kuru hito ga ita.
Even though the train doors were about to close, there was a person forcefully rushing in from the platform.
彼に秘密を打ち明けようとしたが、勇気が出なくて結局何も言えなかった。
Kare ni himitsu wo uchiakeyou to shita ga, yuuki ga denakute kekkyoku nani mo ienakatta.
