N + びる💡Usage
Used to express that someone or something looks or acts like the preceding noun. Often used with a negative or ironic connotation.
📚Examples
あの子は大人びた顔をしている。
Ano ko wa otonabita kao wo shite iru.
That child has a mature-looking face.
古びた家が立ち並んでいる。
Furubita ie ga tachinarande iru.
Old-looking houses are lined up.
彼は物慣れた、田舎びた様子で話した。
Kare wa mononareta, inakabita yousu de hanashita.
He spoke in a familiar, rustic manner.
その街はどこか古びた感じがする。
Sono machi wa dokoka furubita kanji ga suru.
The city feels somewhat old and worn.
彼女は子供のわりに大人びた話し方をする。
Kanojo wa kodomo no wari ni otonabita hanashikata wo suru.
She talks in a mature way for a child.
古びた手帳には、亡き母の筆跡が残っていた。
Furubita techou ni wa, naki haha no hisseki ga nokotte ita.
In the old notebook, the handwriting of the late mother remained.

Tokaibita kakkou wo shite mo, hanashikata de inakamono da to wakaru.
Even if you dress in a city style, people can tell you're from the country by the way you talk.
