5. ぶる : Pretend to be / Act like....

N + ぶる / Na-adj + ぶる💡Usage
Used to indicate that someone is trying to act in a certain way that is not natural to them, often with a negative or sarcastic tone.
📚Examples
彼はいつも偉そうだ。
Kare wa itsumo erasou da.
He always acts important.
彼女は金持ちぶっているが、実は借金だらけだ。
Kanojo wa kanemochi butte iru ga, jitsu wa shakkin darake da.
She acts like she's rich, but she's actually deep in debt.
いい子ぶるのはやめてください。
Iiko buru no wa yamete kudasai.
Please stop acting like a "good kid".
彼は学者ぶって難しい言葉を使いたがる。
Kare wa gakusha butte muzukashii kotoba wo tsukaitagaru.
He acts like a scholar and likes to use difficult words.
不親切なのに親切ぶっている。
Fushinsetsu na noni shinsetsu butte iru.
He acts kind even though he is unkind.
彼女は悲劇のヒロインぶって泣いている。
Kanojo wa higeki no hiroin butte naite iru.
She is acting like a tragic heroine and crying.
若ぶって派手な服を着る。
Wakabutte hade na fuku wo kiru.
He dresses flashily to act young.
知ったかぶりをする。
Shittakaburi wo suru.
Pretend to know everything.
彼は被害者ぶっているが、本当は彼が悪い。
Kare wa higaisha butte iru ga, hontou wa kare ga warui.
He is acting like the victim, but it's actually his fault.
お嬢様ぶった話し方が鼻につく。
Ojou-sama butta hanashikata ga hana ni tsuku.
Her way of talking like a lady is annoying.
