22. ごらん : Please try / Please do (polite command).

Verb stem + ごらん / ごらんなさい💡Usage
Gentle command form, more polite than "なさい". Often used by adults speaking to children or within family.

この古いアルバムにある昔の家族の写真をよく見てごらん。誰か分かるかな？
Kono furui arubamu ni aru mukasi no kazoku no shashin wo yoku mite goran. Dare ka wakaru kana?
Take a good look at this old family photo in the album. Do you know who anyone is?
やり方はそんなに難しくないから、怖がらずにまずは一度やってごらん。
Yarikata wa sonna ni muzukashikunai kara, kowagarazu ni mazu wa ichido yatte goran.
The way to do it isn't that difficult, so don't be afraid and just try it once.
おばあちゃんが心を込めて作った煮物だよ。温かいうちに食べてごらんなさい。
Obaachan ga kokoro wo komete tsukutta nimono dayo. Atatakai uchi ni tabete goran nasai.
This is a stew that Grandma made with all her heart. Please try eating it while it's still warm.
どうして怒られたのか、自分の胸に手を当ててもう一度よく考えてごらん。
Doushite okorareta no ka, jibun no mune ni te wo atete mou ichido yoku kangaete goran.
Place your hand on your heart and think carefully once more about why you were scolded.
駅の向こうに新しいお店ができたみたいだよ。何があるか誰かに聞いてごらん。
Eki no mukou ni atarashii omise ga dekita mitai dayo. Nani ga aru ka darekani kiite goran.
It looks like a new shop opened across from the station. Try asking someone what they have.
最初は誰でも失敗するものだよ。自信を持って、もう一度自分でやってごらん。
Saisho wa dare demo shippai suru mono dayo. Jishin wo motte, mou ichido jibun de yatte goran.
Everyone fails at first. Have confidence and try doing it by yourself once more.
この絵本はとても不思議な物語なんだよ。お母さんと一緒に読んでごらんなさい。
Kono ehon wa totemo fushigi na monogatari nan dayo. Okaasan to issho ni yonde goran nasai.
This picture book is a very mysterious story. Please try reading it with your mother.
隠し事をするのは良くないことだよ。本当のことを正直に話してごらんなさい。
Kakushigoto wo suru no wa yokunai koto dayo. Hontou no koto wo shoujiki ni hanashite goran nasai.
It's not good to hide things. Please try telling the truth honestly.
あそこに綺麗な鳥がいるよ。飛んでいかないように静かに近づいて見てごらん。
Asoko ni kirei na tori ga iru yo. Tonde ikanai you ni shizuka ni chikazuite mite goran.
There's a beautiful bird over there. Try getting close and looking at it quietly so it doesn't fly away.
