Noun/Verb (plain form) + 代わりに💡Usage
Expresses substitution or exchange. Can mean "instead of A, B" or "do A in exchange for B".

仕事で忙しい母の代わりに、今日は私が家族全員の夕食の料理を作った。
Shigoto de isogashii haha no kawari ni, kyou wa watashi ga kazoku zen'in no yuushoku no ryouri wo tsukutta.
Instead of my mother, who is busy with work, I cooked dinner for the whole family today.
環境のことを考えて、できるだけガソリン車の代わりに電車やバスで行くようにしている。
