めったに + Verb (negative)💡Usage
Expresses very low frequency, rarely doing something. Always used with negative verbs.

彼女は体が丈夫で、一年にめったに風邪をひかないのが自慢だ。
Kanojo wa karada ga joubu de, ichineni ni mettani kaze wo hikanai no ga jiman da.
She is physically strong and prides herself on rarely catching a cold even once a year.
家で料理することが多く、友達とのランチ以外はめったに外食しない。
Ie de ryouri suru koto ga ooku, tomodachi to no ranchi igai wa mettani gaishoku shinai.
