Adj-i (remove い) + み / Na-adj (remove な) + み

💡Usage

Turns adjectives into nouns to indicate qualities or characteristics. Example: 深い → 深み (depth).

あの小説には人生の機微が描かれており、読むたびに深みを感じる。

Ano shousetsu ni wa jinsei no kibi ga egakarete ori, yomu tabi ni fukami wo kanjiru.

That novel depicts the subtleties of life, and every time I read it I feel its depth.

このデザートは甘みが足りないので、もう少し砂糖を加えた方がいい。

Kono dezaato wa amami ga tarinai node, mou sukoshi satou wo kuwaeta hou ga ii.

This dessert lacks sweetness, so it would be better to add a little more sugar.
