Lesson 43: It looks like it's going to rain

Looks like ... / Is about to ...

✏️ Structure

- V-masu (bỏ masu) + そうです - Adj-i (bỏ i) + そうです - Adj-na (bỏ na) + そうです - Đặc biệt: いい -> よさそうです / ない -> なさそうです

💡 Usage

  1. Describes an event about to happen visibly. 2. Describes speculative guess about the quality or emotional state based strictly on outward visual appearance.

📚 Examples

いまにも あめりそうです。

Ima nimo ame ga furisou desu.

Looking at the dark clouds, it looks like it's going to rain heavily any second.

この 料理りょうりからそうです。

Kono ryouri wa karasou desu.

Judging by the red color, this dish looks dangerously spicy.

ははは しんぱいそうです。

Haha wa shinpaisou desu.

My mother visibly looks extremely worried about my little brother.

このりんごはとてもおいしそうです。

Kono ringo wa totemo oishisou desu.

This apple is plump and looks incredibly delicious.

シャツのボタンがとれそうです。

Shatsu no botan ga toresou desu.

The thread is loose; your shirt button looks like it is about to completely come off.
