V-ru + くらいなら💡Usage
Used to express that if one must do something extreme, a different (even if bad) option is preferable.
📚Examples
あんな人に謝るくらいなら、死んだほうがましだ。
Anna hito ni ayamaru kurai nara, shinda hou ga mashi da.
If I have to apologize to that kind of person, I'd rather die.
毎日残業をするくらいなら、会社 को 辞めます。
Mainichi zangyou wo suru kurai nara, kaisha wo yamemasu.
If I have to work overtime every day, I'd rather quit the company.
あんなまずい料理を食べるくらいなら、何も食べない。
Anna mazui ryouri wo taberu kurai nara, nanimo tabenai.
If I have to eat such bad food, I'd rather eat nothing.
借金をするくらいなら、今の家を売る。
Shakkin wo suru kurai nara, ima no ie wo uru.
If I have to go into debt, I'd rather sell my current house.
彼と結婚するくらいなら、一生独身でいい。
Kare to kekkon suru kurai nara, isshou dokushin de ii.

Kankyou wo hakai suru kurai nara, kaihatsu nado hitsuyou nai.
If it involves destroying the environment, then development isn't necessary.
