Used to acknowledge something but still express surprise or that it is excessive.

Osoi desu ne. - Sore ni shitemo, ososugimasu.
"It's late, isn't it?" "Even so, it's too late."
大変だとは聞いていたが、それにしてもひどすぎる。
Taihen da to wa kiite ita ga, sore ni shitemo hidosugiru.
I heard it was difficult, but even so, this is too much.
暑いですね。それにしても、今年の夏は異常だ。
Atsui desu ne. Sore ni shitemo, kotoshi no natsu wa ijou da.
It's hot. Even so, this summer is unusual.
彼は忙しい。それにしても、一度も連絡がないのはおかしい。
Kare wa isogashii. Sore ni shitemo, ichido mo renraku ga nai no wa okashii.
He is busy. Even so, it's strange that there hasn't been a single contact.
物価が高い。それにしても、この店は高すぎる。
Bukka ga takai. Sore ni shitemo, kono mise wa takasugiru.
Prices are high. Even so, this shop is too expensive.

Kare wa yoku taberu. - Sore ni shitemo, tabesugi da.
"He eats a lot." "Even so, he eats way too much."
テストはいつも難しいが、それにしても今回は難しかった。
Tesuto wa itsumo muzukashii ga, sore ni shitemo konkai wa muzukashikatta.
The test is always hard, but even so, this time was particularly tough.
