Turns verbs into nouns (spoken form). Similar to "こと" but more casual.

毎日少しずつでもいいから、外国語を勉強し続けるのは大変だが大切なことだ。
Mainichi sukoshizutsu demo ii kara, gaikokugo wo benkyou shitsuzukeru no wa taihen da ga taisetsu na koto da.
